Good to know. Christian singles need to know that by using the BigChurch service, they are in essence supporting, financially, a media org. that promotes many anti christian values. Can fresh and salt water come from the same well?

I have watched the revival on the web and am now a moderator in one of the chat rooms. After 15 days, of participating, TWICE per day, I can tell you that I am now in the Kingdom of God. I wake up in the Glory of Jesus every day since last Thursday. My mind has been cleared of all past traumas including the ancient ones from before the creation (the fall). And much much more. I can only tell u what I did. I found out about it two saturdays ago and by the second day, I placed my destiny in God under the mantle of this MOVE OF GOD, and since then, I have reaped all the benefits of this Glory Of Jesus which comes to meet us at each meeting and is also present in cyberspace in the chat room. This Glory of JEsus is now IN ME, always. I woke up sunday morning in the Glory. Friday, I did more things throughout my day, errands, cleaning, laundry, cooking, TWO meetings for the revival, and at midnight, I said WOW what a day. not tired. enjoyed it all. I have joy, peace of mind. this is MY personal testimony to you all. This revival is a move of our God. I love u all, see u in the chat. p.s. now in my 23rd day

My memory is dimming as I get older. Come to "think" about it, my memory wasn't so good when I was younger. But I am making progress on memorizing Bible Verses now that I use Cards Of The Bible. I take them on my weekend jogs (Sat & Sun)and after 1 year its starting to take hole. For example - one of my favs - 6 Clubs: Heb 9:28 - So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people, and He will appear a 2nd time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. Yes Yes Yes - praise the LORD. dave

Neither animals or plants or rocks and physical elements have souls. No where in the Bible that I am a ware of are we told plants and animals didn't die before the fall. Indeed, how could God tell Adam and Eve to eat those plants in the garden without killing the plant? I think the Bible is primarily talking about spiritual death in the passages you are thinking about.

If you place millions of years between the days of creation you are forced to allow death and destruction before sin. Since sin and death came with Adam, how would you account for the death in the millions of years before him?

Why is the belief in a literal six day creation so essential? Can we not believe this and still have a vital faith?

Personally, I'm disappointed. He doesn't believe in a literal six day creation. He uses the term "process" twice. Creation was not a process. Evolution is a process. Each day was a separate event.

The Clown Ministry in New York is using Cards Of The Bible. The Russian Orphanage has been given 36 decks of Cards Of The Bible and the children (most of whom do not speak English) are now being exposed to God's message of Love and Redemption. Praise the Lord.

I think that Christians should not be afraid of delving into materials that are decidedly anti-Christian. To do so forces one to think about the foundations of one's faith. Why should one be so fearful about this? If one loses one's faith in God over a series of diatribes from someone like Chris Hitchens or a series of fantasy books by Pullman, wasn't your faith a bit suspect to begin with? It seems that too many Christians are simply content with shoddy foundations for faith as it is and that is the biggest constellations of problems that the reactions against this book and film seem to reveal.

The same bruhaha was said about Da Vinci Code movie. A lot of uninformed viewers were watching it as if it was the truth. That's why discussions like this (many are out there for The Golden Compass) is good for everyone - let's examine the controversy, let's hear both sides of the story.

I couldn't agree more! The difficulty is, that when churches grow so large; it's difficult for them to hear the voice from outside the structure of their own organization! So much is lost when leaders don't speak any language but their own...insight or direction that comes through the voice of a stranger, or a visitor may all too easily be dismissed as a "quack" or a "flake." Who knows; a quack or a flake may be just the lunatic the church should be looking for!

Why don't churches work together?
Exactly who deemed this author's series a work of art? Just because the world's system judged his work as being great doesn't mean that Christians have to agree. Christians aren't whining over his works. They simply want movie goers to be educated on exactly what they will exposed to in this movie. What consumers don't know can hurt them.

Lance's Daily Inspiration: Why Did the Children of Israel Have to Wander in the Wilderness?
I think that Jesus best answered your question when he told us to help widows & orphans. I was raised by a paranoid schitzophrenic mother who would scream at the voices in her head at all hours of the night. I was abandonded by a sane father who never wrote called or even cared. My mom being a single parent brought home men she'd pick up at bars. Some assualted me & some just assaulted her. Our extended family blamed me for my moms insanity, but it ran in the family. I had a severe stroke at age 34 & have been in a wheelchair ever since, unable to walk or even stand. I believe that I am still alive to help the many children being raised by a mentally ill parent. Because if the parent isn't stable enough to care for themselves how can they care for a child? I also don't want anyone to go through what I went through at the hands of greedy hospital administators after my stroke & want to advise everyone to get an "advance health care directive" there free, no matter your age because you don't know what will happen or when & this can help protect you when you can't speak. God be with you. You sister in Christ, Jesus.

-- glad to hear your take on the issue. i think you might be interested in the follow 2 parts of the discussion, they're currently at the top of the 'popular posts' page. as for your view on supporting the local church, i guess we'll have to agree to disagree. i don't see it as secondary or less important than the types of giving you described. i think Scripture portrays Jesus loving His local church just as much as each individual on the earth. it is to the local church that He wrote 7 distinct letters to after all! thanks again for the comments, have a blessed day. maranatha

The Christian "Whine"? Come now. This exudes a very negative and condescending attitude toward those who disagree with you. In the future, you might want to temper your titles and words with a little more balance, thus giving evidence that you believe yourself to be just as prone to fallibility and error as the rest of humanity. Juvenile, knee-jerk reactions toward differing opinions is ample evidence of a very ugly phenomenon the word of God identifies as human "pride." He hates it with a passion almost unmatched by any other sin throughout the entire Bible.

It certainly wasn't my intention to convey the idea that a communal building is wrong in and of itself. My comments were primarily a recognition of the status quo in general, not an indictment against the person behind the original post or anyone else in particular. I agree that pooled resources can indeed at times deal with bigger problems. The issue I was attempting to address is one with which we're all familiar. Church organizations routinely invest into meeting needs what's left over (after) their own expenses are dealt with. This is placing the cart before the horse. The Lord demonstrated His priorities in our giving, and if it means that only $5 of the needed $5000 passes from my hand to the needy, then the Lord can meet the rest by means of His own choosing. He owns cattle on a thousand hills. I have no problem with my being only a small part of what can and does help individuals. The gist of my thinking on this is that in order to avoid supporting the usual practice of mishandling by church organizations, I make sure that the primary (majority) portion of my giving is handed out according to the word of God (either I do it, or I give it where I know it will be handled in accordance with God's direction), and THEN I may give (secondarily) in support of a church organization, its buildings and real estate. I agree that what was laid at the apostle's feet was indeed handled by the deacons within the Church, which was not very similar at all to the things we call "churches" today. Those people had ALL things in common, rather than living out the usual disjointed life we see today within our plethora of Western church oragnizations. Blessings to you too. :^) <;;;;;;;;;;;|===0

No According to the Holy Scriptures women are not allowed to preach sermons or teach in the official gatherings of the church. see for example: 1 Corinthians 14:24: Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. 35: And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. 36: What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? 37: If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. 38: But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

Should women attend seminary?
-- thanks for the comment swordman. isn't it fair to say that an organization like Gospel For Asia (www.gfa.org) or a local church who is committed to missions/helps/etc. can do more with a pool of resources than a single person can? if i have $5 dollars to give to the homeless in my city why is it worse to give it to a church who will then pool it with other funds and could give $5,000 towards that work? didn't the disciples set up a benevolence fund out of the communal funds? wasn't that a 'church' sponsored work? i don't think anywhere in the post did it say it was better to build a cathedral than to clothe the naked...and, i assure you that just because someone has a slightly different view than you do does not mean they 'blindly accept what you hear from behind pulpits, radio and television programs, tapes, books and discs.' i hope that you have a wonderful week full of God's grace and provision. blessings

What an offensive post! I just returned from a Bible tour of Jordan where I had the honor of speaking to Christians and Muslims in the Mid-East. To stereotype and equate that all Arabs == all Muslims is a HUGE insult to a people whose culture is a proud of the Arab Christians who make up their population as they do Arab Islamists. Granted, I would want that all of Islam realize that Christ is whom He claimed to be - but it is not going to happen until we understand who these people are from THEIR perspective - rather than see them through our Americanzied eyes.

I am head of libraries in a Christian school system in Hong Kong. I pulled those books off the shelve for reasons other than you have speculated about. I did read the first two before doing this. The deciding issue for me was that these books are "Anti-Christian" as opposed to simply being "Non-Christian" there is a big difference and the difference is obvious. This is a particular problem since these books are not aimed at ADULTS but at 13 year olds. There might be value in an adult, mature Christian thinking through the themes presented in these books but not for 6th grade student. In that sense these books are not art but evangelism tools for atheist. Does that mean that we shouldn't let children read the books? Possibly not but they need to know what they are reading. That said, if these books represent the level of thinking that most atheist are capable of then we should praise God. They are trite, shallow and present a picture of God that is simply not the God that any religion believes in. Lastly you are using an oddly illogical argument, though one that is very common. The fact that Christians should be creating the best art and literature doesn't mean that we shouldn't avoid blatantly anti-Christian things. We shouldn't pollute our mind with the lies of Satan, even the shallow and trite ones whether we are are creating something better or not.

The word of God demonstrates that the primary portion of our giving is to be for meeting needs, not the construction and care of buildings and real estate. There are far too many misconceptions about the OT tithe and NT giving. Please read the word of God for what it says on this topic rather than blindly accept what you hear from behind pulpits, radio and television programs, tapes, books and discs. If you have any questions, I can offer some references directly from God's word. Giving to needy individuals is a greater work than supporting the works of men, such as religious orgnaizations and their wood, mortar, steel, office staff, parking lots, etc.

Sinners are sinners. There in not one greater than the other. If a person is among you who sins, and he/she repents, you are to forgive them. As God forgives us. The nature of the offense while indeed vile, is what it is. A sin. If they have repented and moved forward in life, forgive them. All things are made new. Are there any among you all, who are without sin? Not me, I sin everyday. I also do what is required daily of my by God, and that is to ask for forgiveness and move on. Thank God we serve such a great and forgiving God! I also "operate" within a Church, and represent that Church's street Ministry. One sole at a time! Should I be able to do that? I'm a sinner. Thank you Lord.

So much strife among you guys. How come? It seems like there are entitlement issues at hand which should be dealt with. Yes, prayer is very important. There should be more of it in this world for, babies, people and our leadership. So be nice to each other and don't let the sun go down without dealing with those things. Priority issues, based on how people should vote about a particular story, to gain position on a web page should be the least of your concerns. God bless you guys/gals and be nice! Personal Growth can never be joined with Membership Growth - one is numeric - the other is inner-transformation and sanctification. Too often the things of the flesh (numeric growth) take precedence over the things of the spirit (conformed to the image of Christ and being filled with the Spirit).

Thank you for voting. As for the guilt-trip thing, as Christians we are called to weep with those who weep, among other things, regardless of how much we "relate." Any guilt felt by anybody is only their own conscience testifying to what is right. Repentance is the proper response to guilt. On the one hand I do not want to come across as harsh, but on the other hand sometimes people's elaborate excuses and theologies need to be hit with a hammer before they will fall.
